Lamb and Feta Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce

This moist and flavorful lamb and feta burger mimics the flavors of a Greek gyro sandwich when smothered with cool and creamy tzatziki sauce.

Lamb and Feta Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce

This is one of my favorite burgers and I'm hoping it becomes a favorite of yours too. If you love the big, bold flavors of Greek cuisine then make these burgers, and make these burgers soon!

Lamb and Feta Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce

Makes: 7-8 burgers     Prep Time: 15 minutes       Cook Time:  10-12 minutes

To make the sauce:
1½ cups Greek yogurt
¼ cup diced red onion (or to taste)
½ cup chopped cucumber, peeled and seeded
2 tablespoons chopped mint
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon lemon zest

-Mix all ingredients in a medium sized bowl and chill until ready to serve with the burgers.

To make the burgers:
1½ pound ground lamb
1 cup crumbled feta cheese
½ cup diced red onion
2 tablespoons lemon zest
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1½ teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
tomato slices, optional
lettuce, optional
Pretzel buns (or buns of your favorite variety)

-In a large bowl mix all the ingredients. Form the mixture into 5" patties. Cook the patties in a skillet or on a grill until your desired doneness.

-Serve the burger on a bun topped with chilled tzatziki, tomato slices and lettuce (if desired).
