K for Kolaches - International Picnic Day #PicnicGame

Kudos Kitchen Kolaches Recipe via kudoskitchenbyrenee.com

Today is International Picnic Day, and even though it's Wednesday some of the #SundaySupper family of bloggers have gotten together for a virtual picnic. We've got you covered from A-Z with fantastic items to fill your picnic basket. My contribution is the 11th letter of the alphabet, K, and I'm bringing Kolaches!!!

Have you ever played the picnic word game where you you have to remember items in alphabetical order that everyone else is bringing in the virtual picnic basket? That's what we're playing today! Every food blogger participant in today's #PicnicGame has claimed a letter of the alphabet and made a dish that is picnic appropriate beginning with the letter they've chosen. Great fun, don't you think? Me too, so I hope you're hungry! We're on our way to a picnic!!!

I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing...

Asian Chicken Salad from Try Anything Once Culinary
Beautiful Beet Salad from Small Wallet, Big Appetite
Chicken Muffuletta from Marlene Baird
Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Cups from The Dinner-Mom

KOLACHES    {PRINT THIS RECIPE}
Makes: 1 dozen     Prep Time:  20 minutes     Bake Time: 25-30 minutes

3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
fruit jam (I used seedless raspberry and seedless blackberry)
powdered sugar for dusting

-In a large bowl with a hand mixer, or the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the cream cheese and butter.
-Add the vanilla.
-Add the flour slowly until incorporated.
-Shape into a disc, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-Roll the dough out to 1/8" thickness and cut into approximate 2 1/2" squares
-Place about 1 teaspoon of jam into the center of each square. Overlap the opposite corners and press the dough together to seal.
-Place the cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet.
-Bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.
-Cool completely and then dust with powdered sugar.
