Hawaiian Ham Pizza

Hawaiian Ham Pizza Recipe

I purchased a ham steak recently which I don't normally do (eldest son doesn't like ham), but since he's moved out, ham, in all it's forms, will again be in our meal rotations. This wasn't the idea I had originally had for the ham, but it seemed to fit the bill for last night's dinner.

This recipe falls under the category "quick and easy". It uses many grocery store convenience foods and prepared, bottled and canned items. From prep time to ring-the-bell dinner time, you're looking at 30 minutes (give or take a few). 

I made two pizzas (I still have a hard time wrapping my head around cooking for less people) so if you're only making one, cut the recipe in half and go from there.


1 ham steak (your call on the size), cut into small bite-size pieces
2 Boboli pizza crusts (I used one regular and one whole wheat)
2 tablespoons Heinz 57 steak sauce (1 tablespoon each pizza)
2 tablespoons olive oil (1 tablespoon each pizza)
2 tablespoons dried minced onions (1 tablespoon each pizza)
1 cup canned pineapple tidbits, drained (1/2 cup each pizza)
2 teaspoons ground coriander (1 teaspoon each pizza)
black pepper to taste (no need to add salt due to the salty nature of the ham)
8 ounces grated Swiss cheese (4 ounces each pizza)

-Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
-In a non-stick skillet over medium high heat, brown the ham steak pieces slightly, to add color.
-Meanwhile on two parchment lined baking sheets, place one crust on each sheet and partially bake them for approximately 7-10 minutes each.
-Remove from oven.
-Top each crust with the oil and the steak sauce using a pastry brush to evenly coat the surface.
-Add the ham, pineapple pieces and minced onion, making sure to evenly distribute the ingredients all over the crust.
-Sprinkle evenly the ground coriander and black pepper.
-Top with the grated Swiss cheese and bake until the cheese is melted and starting to brown (approximately 12-15 minutes).
-Allow to to cool slightly and then cut in wedges and serve.

See, I told you it was quick and easy! It's a little bit salty and a little bit sweet.  It's a good thing that I did make that second pizza because now my hubby can take the leftovers to work. I love it when that happens :)
